IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES
This psalm contains many of God’s promises. We are comforted as we are reminded that God is our protector. He is our deliverance. As we see from 91:1-4, God is the shelter. He is our refuge and our fortress.
The psalmist has real confidence in God. In the midst of suffering or danger, God is our protector.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God , in whom I trust.” This is a word of encouragement for us all because we must place our trust in the Almighty God who loves and cares for us.
In this troubled and challenging time, we put our trust in our loving God as He keeps his promises. He is our refuge and our fortress.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge, his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Here we see the picture of the mother bird who would tuck or cover her young under her wings. This image is very important because we are reminded that God is covering us with his wings. It is God’s comforting presence which protects us safely from all harm and danger.
Without fear, we can go through this troubled and difficult time together. We seek and turn to God who is much bigger than any fear we may have. We don’t have to be afraid because God is trustworthy. We take shelter under the wing of God. He is our refuge. God is above all the crises and problems we may face today.
In the midst of these uncertainties and difficulties, we have peace in God. We put our trust and take assurance in our loving God.
Psalm 91: 5-6
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. This psalm may not promise us a trouble-free life on this broken world. However we are assured that Christ is in us.
Let us pray.
We give you thanks Lord for your love and mercy for us. Thank you for your promises.
You are our deliverance and protector.
We bless and praise you Lord. We do not need to fear any harm or danger because we have real hope and peace in you, Lord.
You are our Prince of Peace. You are our shelter and refuge. May the Word of God comfort us as we put our trust in God who is faithful and almighty.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
